Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog! I am a first grade teacher in Baltimore County. When I am not teaching, you can find me enjoying time with family and friends. I love sunshine and am a sports fan.

I take a differentiated approach to learning. I would consider this philosophy to be most visible in my teachings because every child has different needs and wants to when they come to school each day. Whether this be academic, social, emotional or biological needs. Some students come to school hungry, tired. Other students may need to be challenged academically. The needs of the children vary, so my philosophy is flexible.
I believe I am an auditory, kinesthetic, and visual learner. I learn best when I am presented information visually as well as when it is read aloud to me. In addition, I learn best by doing. I need to make mistakes and try things out on my own to see if I really have grasped the concept.
All my students learn differently. Being first graders, the majority of them are kinesthetic learners. They use manipulatives a lot in math ot help them solve story problems. They use them in reading to help them blend and decode words. I have a few students who can not be looking, but will still be able to hear every direction with great detail. These are my auditory learners.
The way I learn and the way my students learn is reflected in my teaching daily. I have to differentiate instruction daily for all the students to make sure they meet the learning objectives. If a student needs directions read to them, or they need a number line, or they need to hear a song to help them understand the skill, I will provide it for them.
